Welcome to Sycamore Road, Littlethorpe, an outline Welcome to Sycamore Road, Littlethorpe, an outline application for 14 new homes in the county of Leicestershire, designed by Niamh Brady-Wright on behalf of our client Clarity Property!

This thoughtfully designed development in the pretty village of Littlethorpe will provide the local area with 14 new, high quality family homes in a range of sizes, types and tenures, increasing local housing choice and catering for a variety of households, including the elderly and those wishing to work from home. Sitting within walking distance of Narborough train station, the development is well connected and promotes sustainable modes of travel with low-speed, pedestrian and cycle-friendly streets connected to existing routes. 

The landscape-led design is ecologically sound, respecting valuable habitats and retaining existing hedgerows and trees. Proposed green spaces will ensure that residents can live in harmony with nature whilst also encouraging physical activity and social interaction through new proposed footpaths and recreational routes. There are also numerous opportunities for further enhancing the biodiversity of the Site through wildflower meadow planting and the inclusion of a landscaped attenuation basin, providing new habitats for local wildlife.

A strong framework of connected and well-overlooked streets will create a safe, accessible place, in which the community can enjoy the outdoors and be easily connected to the surrounding facilities. The use of gateway and landmark designs will create a sense of distinctiveness within the built form, and the choice of carefully considered materials will ensure a sensitive transition between the existing settlement and wider countryside. This is an exciting opportunity to create a new legacy development to support the growth of Littlethorpe and deliver much needed new homes for the District, in a highly sustainable location and with landscape at its heart.

We are delighted to share that our recent outline We are delighted to share that our recent outline application for 75 new homes in the village of Coleford, Somerset, designed by Sarah Murray and Sarah Middleton on behalf of our client Rainier Developments Limited, has been approved! 

Sitting to the north of the village on Anchor Road, the development will deliver much needed new homes to the Mendip District, with the site having capacity for up to 75 new dwellings in a range of house types and sizes – 30% of which will be affordable. 

This high-quality, low-density scheme has been designed to form an attractive new green gateway into the village from the north, sensitively complementing its location and reinforcing the existing landscape character through new and enhanced tree and hedgerow planting. This proposed retention and enhancement of the Site’s edges, as well as the addition of new SuDS areas, will bring much-improved landscape and ecological connectivity to the Site, whilst also creating new habitats for local wildlife.

One of the development’s key design concepts is the inclusion of a central green corridor running east to west across the site. This will provide new public open space with integrated areas for play, creating a vibrant multi-use space for multi-generational enjoyment. The addition of walking routes and natural trails through the development ensures that the scheme connects with the existing street network in Coleford as well as the extensive PRoW network, integrating it seamlessly into the settlement and the surrounding countryside, promoting active travel and blurring the line between natural and urban landscapes.

The proposals promote a low carbon development by reducing energy consumption and enabling a more efficient use of energy. The orientation of streets and buildings maximises the use of solar energy for passive heating and cooling as well as natural ventilation.

The masterplan creates an opportunity for a distinct landscape-led scheme with the potential to deliver something new and special for Coleford. The development creates a fantastic addition to the settlement, respecting the existing character of the village and enhancing it for future generations.
